Born and raised in Memphis, Tenn., Michael has a bachelor’s degree in marketing from The University of Memphis and is scheduled to receive his master’s degree in public relations from The University of Alabama in 2013. He has nearly a decade of experience in business management and strategic marketing communications.

Previously, he was director of public relations for The Modern Brand Company where he managed media relations and social media efforts for a number of clients across the Southeast. In 2012, he won the American Advertising Federation of Birmingham’s Ten Award for Public Relations for his work on the Jefferson County Health Action Partnership’s Champions for Health campaign — which included the highly successful SmokeFree Alabama initiative. Before joining The Modern Brand, Michael served as public relations and marketing coordinator at Birmingham Botanical Gardens, garnering many awards and pats on the back along the way.

Michael is an avid foodie and a pretend chef during his free time. Aside from PR, Michael is very passionate about politics, food, health, public policy, current events and social media. When not working or cooking, he spends time with his two dogs: a rambunctious French Bulldog (Vandiver) and a terrier mix rescued from the Blount County Humane Society (Bueller).
